ALUMINIUM FOIL TAPES

General Description :

A range of high quality aluminium foil tapes for a variety of insulation applications, most commonly used in the building and construction industry.
There is a choice of adhesives, either hot melt for maximum adhesion but limited temperature resistance, or pure acrylic with superior temperature performance. Some grades are supplied on a liner, others are available self-wound (without a liner).

FSK (Foil Scrim Kraft) Tape

General Description:

A reinforced aluminium foil tape.

The tape is based on a 7 micron aluminium foil, reinforced with a 3 way fibreglass scrim kraft, and with a water based acrylic adhesive. It is a self-adhesive tape.

Applications:

Used for sealing joints and seams against moisture and vapour on foil jacketing insulation

Storage Details:

The rolls of tape must be stored flat on their cut edges in the original packing until required for use, and must be protected from dust, heat, moisture, direct sunlight, corrosive and solvent fumes. Under these conditions, the storage lift of the tape in a temperate climate will be not less than two years. Storage in more severe, e.g. Tropical, climates we do not recommend storage for more than six months.

Plastic Extruder Heads (helps preventing costly maintenance due to build-up of extruded waste).

Anti-Dust

Features: The tape consist of a strong fleece material with a plastic top coat on one side and a durable acrylic adhesive on the other. Along the tape are central perforations covered by a non-woven filter. The filter is impregnated with an anti-mould and anti-algae agent. Anti-Dust Tape is designed to seal the edges of multi-walled polycarbonate sheeting. Sealing against excessive dust and insects, the filter sections permit flow of air and moisture to reduce condensation.

Features: These tapes are based on a silicone rubber coated rayon fabric to which has been applied a synthetic rubber adhesive. One grade has a napped (pimpled) surface and the other is smooth. The tape surfaces are highly resistant to clogging and prevent build-up of adhesive or other deposits on web transport rollers. They are ideal for wrapping over transport rollers as used in the converting industries. The surfaces have extremely low friction to prevent stretching or sticking.
pPVC Lane Marking / Hazard Warning

Features: Based on a heavy duty film coated with a white aggressive adhesive. Used for marking out lanes on factory floors or warning against hazards. Colours: Black, White, Yellow, Blue, Green, Red. As a hazard tape: Black/Yellow, Red/White, Green/White.
Book Binding Tape

Features: A self-adhesive paper tape, based on an embossed, siliconised, self-coloured kraft paper. Available in Black, Green, Dark Blue, Light Blue, White, Red and Yellow. It is widely used for binding the spine of cheque books, accounts books, brochures etc. The tape has an attractive embossed appearance, unwinds easily from the roll and is provided with a high tack aggressive adhesive.
Pipeline Identification
Features: Based on a 2-ply laminated tape structure. The printing is on a PVC tape which is laminated over with a very clear PP tape for protection and durability. The printing will either be in basic identification colours or with symbols. The use is for application to pipe lines in order to indicate what these pipes contain and the direction of the flow of the content. Rolls are supplied in 33m length and are available in varying widths.
Anti Hot-Spot Foam
Features: Based on a low density white foam tape coated with a long aging acrylic adhesive. The foam tape surface has a fixed polyester liner applied. Excellent UV resistance is offered and the tape has a life expectancy of about 20 years. The application is in the horticultural industry to prolong the life of plastic film or net covers which are applied over the frames in temporary greenhouses. The tape is applied to aluminium frames prior to the covering with plastic sheets or netting. The tape acts as an insulation layer reducing heat transmission and preventing the build-up of hot spots. The polyester liner on the tape surface prevents friction and abrasion of the plastic covers. The tape is usually supplied in 9 or l0mm widths

PRINTABLE PP TAPES

The best method of printing on PP tapes is by selecting appropriate tapes which have been specially surface treated (Corona treatment). Additionally it requires:

Special Printing Inks.
Printing Cylinders, which can be heated up to 50 ° C.
An extended Drying Tunnel with good ventilation.
Printing the tape within 6 months of receipt.

Conditions of the printing machine:

The best results are obtained when the printing cylinder is heated up:
50 ° C for PP Standard
40 ° C for PP Printable Silent Quality
30 ° C for PP Printable Hot Melt
The drying tunnel should have good ventilation and the air temperature has to be between 50 and 60 C, except for the printing of PP Printable Hot Melt where the drying tunnel should not be heated.
Ideally the printing should be carried out on printing machines designed for PP Tape printing. For PP Printable Hot Melt it is possible to use a PVC printing machine, provided the printing cylinder can be heated to 30 ° C and has an extended drying tunnel with ventilation and blowing capacity.

Printing Inks:
To-day inks are available which are ready for use, e.g. the PU inks of Supercolor, which are very generally used. If no special inks are available, it is possible to use polyamide inks mixed with isopropylc alcohol and heptane.

Stereos:
Recommend is red Semperit or photopolymer. For PP Printable Hot Melt rubber stereos as used for PVC printing can also be used.

Working procedure:
The print rolls PP Printable Silent Quality should be stored at a temperature of 20 °C to 30 °C. before using them since this makes the unwinding lighter and enables a higher speed on the printing machine.

Where required heat up the printing cylinders. Install the ventilation system and make sure that the air in the drying tunnel has the right temperature. For PP Printable Hot Melt the drying tunnel must not be heated and ventilation has to be at maximum blowing capacity.

Though it is not imperative it is recommend that the tape is cleaned by mounting on the machine a piece of felt which rubs off possible dirty spots.

Adjust the friction of the winding system in order to avoid that the cores will be crushed.

The speed of the machine stays in close connection with the capacity of the ventilation and the drying tunnel.

In case the tape is insufficiently dried a problem with off-setting of the ink may arise. This can be noticed immediately.

The recommended speed of the machine is 80 to 100m. per minute.

In case there is a problem like ink transfer, too high unwinding resistance or tape splitting, this indicates that the drying is insufficient. In this case it is recommend that the speed of the machine be reduced or the performance of the drying tunnel will have to be improved.

To check the print quality, a method generally used is to place a roll in a refrigerator for 15 minutes. By means of a fast unwinding any problem will be noticed. In case there is a problem like ink transfer, too high unwinding resistance or tape splitting, this indicates that the drying is insufficient. In this case it is recommend that the speed of the machine be reduced or the performance of the drying tunnel will have to be improved. The problem may also be resolved by adding to the ink a solvent of isopropylic alcohol and heptane.

General Remarks:

During cold periods the inks should be stored at a temperature of 18 ° C to 20 ° C. In case the inks have become solid this can be resolved by immersing the container in a vessel with luke warm water.Before using the ink it has to be stirred thoroughly in order to obtain a perfect mix. Make sure that the containers of ink are well closed in order to avoid evaporation.

At the end of the day the ink which remains in the containers of the machine should be placed back in the original container.During a stop of the production the heating system of the printing cylinder should be disconnected since a too high temperature will create problems with the proper winding of the tape.

Floodcoat printing has to be avoided.

A bag neck sealer is available which applies the tape around the neck of the plastic bag. This dispenser is of strong metal construction and will provide many years of effective service.

Polyethylene bags are widely used for food packaging, such as vegetables and meat, most commonly employed in retail outlets. It provides a hygienic and airtight presentation.

The Sports / Injury Pre-cut Tape offers support for back, neck, shoulder, knee, and wrist. Each pack consists of pre-cut strips of tape for each particular application, ready to apply. Each tape application can be worn for 2-3 days, 24 hours a day. It is hypoallergenic, made from 100% cotton and remains flexible. It is also water-resistant, so you can shower, bathe and swim whilst wearing it. You can also continue with your activities or training, as Sports Injury Pre-cut allows for full range of motion, supporting the muscle yet not restricting movement. The tape supplied is in the colour Silver.

Pre Cut – Back Application
Sports / Injury Tape Pre-cut Back Application can be used to relieve back pain and spasms and is designed to support over stretched back muscles, Repetitive Strain Injury, lower back pain, lumbago and sciatica.
The application is designed for bodies with pain and stiffness in the lower back.
Pre Cut – Neck Application
Sports / Injury Tape is designed for neck pain caused by muscle strain or ligament sprain. It can also help to provide relief from Whiplash, Trapped Nerve, tension headaches caused by tight neck muscles.
Neck pain is a common condition, with two thirds experiencing it at some point in their life. Neck pain often arises from problems in the spine, muscle tightness in the back or joint disruption in the neck. Aside from injury or trauma to the neck, stress is a chief cause, as is prolongued periods of sitting at a computer leading to poor posture.
Pre Cut – Shoulder Application
Sports / Injury Tape is designed to relieve shoulder pain and stiffness, and provide support for overused or weak shoulder muscles, Bursitis, frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries.
Pre Cut – Knee Application
Sports / Injury Tape is an effective treatment for runner’s knee, providing knee and patella support, and alleviating associated pain and swelling from Meniscus (Cartilage) Tears and Swollen or Torn Ligaments.

It can particularly affect athletes whose knees take a lot of pressure, such as runners and tennis players. Features: Translucent red with a RR adhesive. Suitable for paper and filmic web splicing.Based on a Cellulose film coated with a strong, red rubber/resin adhesive and provided with a release coat for easier unwind.The tape has been specially designed for a variety of splicing applications on many different substrates. In these applications it offers: Good adhesion. Temperature resistance of up to 130 ° C for short periods, or higher temperatures if the web surface temperature remains relatively low. Easy handling since the film is non-static. Red colour for easy identification of the splice. Hand tearable. Whilst the tape is not designed to adhere to silicone treated surfaces, it is used by some manufacturers of synthetic leather, using this tape as the top splice on casting papers. It would be suitable primarily for PU synthetic leather production where the temperature requirements are generally around 130-150 ° C.
